After college in the mid 80’s I moved to upstate New York. One of the first things I did was join the gym. I quickly made many friends. It was a small community and we would socialize outside the gym as well. I ended up meeting my first wife at that same gym and 75 percent of the wedding party was made up of people from that gym.

Fast forward to now; people have their headphones on, between sets they are looking at their phone or worse talking on their phone while they sit on a machine. Some people, both men and women have an attitude and others are friendly. You use to be able to work in with someone on a machine. Not anymore.

I have not seen a decrease in the number of men going to the gym. I honestly wish there were. It’s way too crowded at the gym I go to in California.

In the end I just think people need to get over themselves.
