For people that have zero knowledge about cars like the author, the thought might be, to buy a new car.

The cars purchased in this article are in general unreliable. Then if you fail to perform any preventive maintenance your chance of problems will increase substantially.

Inflation has caused the cost of vehicles to dramatically increase in price, and new cars still experience multiple problems due to computer chips, electrical glitches and design issues which can also be brought on by tightening emission requirements.

I own six vehicles. My daily driver is 2022 Ford 150 Tremor and my wife drives a 2016 Ford Explorer with over 100,000 miles. I change the oil myself every 5000 miles. I just performed a brake job on the Explorer yesterday.

Ramsey in general is correct for most it’s much cheaper to purchase a used car, maintain it and drive it for as long as possible.
