From the male perspective; my wife walked out on me after 23 years of marriage. It was toxic and I was in love with her and thought I would be the one sibling in my family whose marriage did not fail. My ex got off on controlling me, pulling my strings like a puppeteer. A month after she said it was over I met someone. It was casual but helped take my mind off my ex. This person was kind, soft-spoken and appreciative.

My ex found out and called and said “I thought there was a chance we could work it out.” and “ How can you think of dating someone else so soon after we broke up?”

Me: “Hello, you had a new house built!” “Who has a house built if they plan to try to work it out?”

We ended up trying to date and she broke up with me again and again, she kept pulling those strings.

Then I decided it was over, I cut those strings and I moved on. Build a new life with someone new that loves me. When I say I love you to her; her response is; “I love you more!”

There is a rainbow the second time around. You just have to be will to move forward and find it!
