I tend to side with the crowd and say that running is overall a healthy form of exercise. Years ago, I was into working out in the gym. I completely changed my body and ended up competing in bodybuilding contests with some success. ie: Mr. New York, and several other awards. Then in 1996 moved to CA for a job and then got into racing bicycles. Riding 100’s of miles a week on training rides and racing on the weekends. Then moved into running, I actually followed my wife at the time into the sport. I started racing in half marathons and 10K’s. I loved the feeling of being able to go out for a nine or ten-mile run and be able to carry on a conversation while running with a friend. we would get done and not feel exhausted.

The biggest takeaway from all these forms of exercise.

Always have a plan to go along with the goal! Like you most people have a goal like you did to lose weight, yet don’t have a solid plan on how to achieve the goal. This, of course, led to overtraining and injuries.

Consistency and cross-training will get you to the goal quicker however it’s important to listen to the body which also needs rest and recovery.
