I went through a similar situation. I had been married for 23 years to my first wife. We separated in year five after she made numerous threats to me. Then she wanted me back after I started to date someone while we were separated.

We had a young daughter at the time and we both worked so I justified that the right move was to stay married.

To make the marriage work she made certain demands, like me having to get a vasectomy if we would ever have sex again. However, toward the end we rarely had sex. It was her way of quiet quitting but also she made sure to throw in a degree of vengeance before telling me she did not love me and wanted a divorce.

It was extremely painful both emotionally and financially but I am so much happier now.

Found a person that loves and supports me. A lifelong friend and wife. It's like it should be when you marry someone that shares mutual respect and love.
