I work for an aerospace company as a senior manager. We offer benefits that are better than Amazon, I know because I use to work at Amazon. The hourly wage is also better.

We are looking for starting technicians and we struggled to get four people to show up for an interview.

On another note. My wife and I hired a painter to paint the interior of our house. When I asked my wife how the painting was going she responded not so well. Why I asked. She then said; " the painters assistant who had worked for the painter for 7 years and recently got a raise told the painter that he accepted another position with another company and quit. The assistant then packed up his things and walked out. No two week or even one week notice, the assistant did not even finish the day. I am all for moving up the ladder or looking for better oppportunitites however what the asistant did is just direspectful.

At work we are having trouble getting raw material becuase there is a driver shortage. Truck drivers in general make well above the minimum wage.

This is what we are dealing with currently based on my experience.

The end result for the people who stay home and collect unemployement is they are not getting the benefit such as medical insurance that they would get from work. They are not saving for retirement in a 401 K offered by the company they could be working for or using a current job as a stepping stone to a better job.
