My daughter decided to marry someone when she was in college. He was from a different country and needed a green card to stay. However they swore that they loved each other.

I knew this had all the sign of a failed marriage. When they asked for my blessing I gave them a list that they should follow if they really wanted the marriage to work.

Some could say have a "Back Up Plan", in fact it was "Have a Plan" and how to develop it. Much of it contained advice on how to love, respect and support each other.

They both agreed it was great advise and promised they would follow it. In reality they did not follow it at all and in less than two years he ran off leaving my daughter with a pile of bills.
