My wife is from Poland. We also have different observations.

She never had a pillow growing up so to this day although I have four pillows on each bed in the house. She has never used one to sleep.

She washes and reused plastic containers. We have a cabinet full of recycled plastic food containers.

My wife and her family can't get over America’s obsession with sugar. Everything is overly sweet. Even the cheese is too sweet to the point that she makes her own cheese when she makes a cheesecake.

The amount of food people consume translates into an obesity epidemic that is not seen in other countries.

As a Special Ed teacher, this really hits home with her Parents overly spoiling their children or neglecting their children. She had one child show up in the same clothes and worn-out sandals for a month straight. She eventually went out and bought clothes and shoes for the child that she changed him into as soon as he came to school in the morning.

America is a very rich country and many do not appreciate all they have and often spend money in the wrong area and focus too much on themselves and not on the people around them.
